Robot club
We have our programmable Lego out on Friday afternoons when there is not a drop-in STEM club.
During the 2019 autumn term, this will be:
15th and 29th November (3pm-5pm) PLUS Saturday 30th November (10am-4pm)
6th and 20th December (2pm-5pm)
Drop-In STEM Club
During term-time, our drop-in STEM club is on the 1st & 3rd Saturday of the month (10am-4pm) and the following Friday afternoon (2pm-5pm). At each session you can work with your child to complete a challenge towards a CREST Star (age 5-7) or CREST SuperStar (7-11) award. Once your child completes 8 challenges, they will get a certificate and a badge.
Saturday 16th and Friday 22nd November (3pm-5pm) 2019: dinosaurs - an opportunity for young palaeontologists to explore prehistoric creatures. Please note the session on Friday 22nd November will start at the later time of 3pm due to a school visit.
Saturday 7th and Friday 13th December 2019: modelling microbes - use recycled materials to create your own microorganisms.
Saturday 18th and Friday 24th January 2020: Energy saving week - explore renewable energy by investigating how to turn turbines.
Saturday 1st and Friday 7th February 2020: World Wetlands Day - we will be exploring the lifecycles of butterflies and birds.
Saturday 15th and Friday 21st February (10am-4pm) 2020: bath bombs - explore acids and bases as you create a bath bomb to take home with you. The Friday session will run from 10am until 4pm as it is half term.
Saturday 7th and Friday 13th March 2020: Healthcare Science Week - explore how your lungs work and make a model to take home.
Saturday 21st and Friday 27th March 2020: recycled paper - create your own recycled paper.
Novel Nature
We are partnering with the WEA to provide some free science workshops for grown ups. At each session, you can try 2 or 3 simple experiments that you can then try at home with your children. The sessions will take place on Thursday evenings (7pm-9pm) at GlosCol on Princess Elizabeth Way. Visit their website to enrol.
